And dinner was the last of that turkey jalfrezi we made last weekend. The garnish is sprouted fenugreek/methi seed ... which I had soaked prior to intending to plant them, but never got around to that, so they sprouted. Quite a nice little crunch to them actually.

It has been a hefty weekend, with two pre-8AM starts. Hopefully I can still drag myself up at 5AM tomorrow.

Got home earlier and new-ish (a few months) neighbours waved us over and gave us charcoal grilled chicken with a tasty spicy rub. They're from India, I think he said Kerala, or at least Kerala was mentioned.

Sounds like they miss the food and markets back home. Were telling us about their spice markets, wistfully. An interesting thing is they just had a child, but the child has now been sent back home to be raised by their parents so he can grow up in the proper culture and with proper food.

I was tempted to ask why the hell they're living in the UK, but then that's a bit pot-kettle-black isn't it. Why am I here? LOL...

Nice folks though, mostly pretty quiet, two of them have IT backgrounds but work in a factory and a post office. (There are three folks in the house, the couple and a brother or cousin or something like that.)

I ended up having a beer, and that almost ended my day lol. Could have just sat down and been done with it at that point. (And content with that.)

Found a new garden centre not far from home.

[Rachel's Plant Outlet](https://rachaelsplantoutlet.com/) — a retail nursery attached to the [Tamar Nurseries](https://tamarnurseries.com/) wholesale site.

Have driven past it on the A47 many times, always assumed it was just a wholesale site. Retail here has been open two years though. It is all very shiny new.

They have some real Thik Boi olive trees from Spain, and a lot of other stuff… it's pretty much all ornamentals, semi mature trees, and some fruit trees.

Really not particularly impressed by ejabberd. In the latest problem with it: if your disc fills up it crashes out entirely and stays dead.

I run a whole variety of different bits of server software, nothing else does that to me. Even bloody Mastodon manages to survive this (Mastodon is responsible for filling up the disc of course.)

Fingers crossed for that Virgin FTTP install on Saturday. I very much have my doubts, but we shall see. I think I've ordered 512Mb symmetric, though was is so long ago I don't really remember lol. Once I have that in place, and it has tested out as stable, I'll be moving the Masto server off the VPS and into the house.

Local Evri driver putting in the hours today!

I'd like to hope they're well enough compensated for it, but suspect not so much.

I also have to admit Evri deliveries in my neck of the woods have been very reliable since I filled in detailed location and instructions in their app.

(This was expected tomorrow, nice new thick rubber mats for the Volvo. Becuase the carpet ones just don't stay put, plus I am a muddy bastard.)

Popped into my usual #ramsons spot on the way home today... needs a bit more cookin'... should be pretty good by the end of March. (Location: South Cambridgeshire... I saw a very recent utoob of someone picking decent looking leaves, but they're down Bristol way.)

Kat has taken it upon herself to try "beading" QR codes. Apparently it involves something called "square stitch". Yes, this actually scans... though often not super speedy. Google (boo hiss) Lens scans it faster than Binary Eye seems to manage, the latter particularly struggles in low light. Does anyone know where you can buy beads that are more square in dimension...? Also, Kat is a software developer looking for a job. If you'd like to employ the sort of UK-based nerd who would try to make a QR code out of beads then look no further. 😅 She's starting to bead rude word QR codes now too.

We managed to nip out to the #allotment this work-from-home lunchtime... it has been a while, about 1.5 weeks I think.

I was glad to find the greens seedlings we had planted out in the polytunnel were not dead parched husks. They seem OK. We watered them.

The ume trees are pretty much in full glorious bloom, I was glad to have seen them. The paler one smells wonderful.

Apologies for crap alt tags... right now... I am at the end of my tether after a very long day and gotta make dinner and get to bed.

Inspired, for work reasons, to dig out my old DSLR kit. I was never more than an very-amateur photographer, I kinda inherited the "bug" for it from mum, and enjoyed the photography module I did at school (we were lucky enough to have darkroom facilities at that school, which I continued to use a bit post-course)... but it wasn't until my late 20s, the late 2000s, that I got my own first SLR camera and of course by then it was a D-SLR... this EOS40D, bought near-new second-hand, did quite a bit of travel with me. I still look back on the photos I took with it back then and find the quality "feel" of them is far better than snaps taken with my higher-megapixel phone camera today, they have something about them which the tech/optics on a phone-camera just does not seem capture. The EOS beats a Samsung S23 even at a mere 10MP, and with certainly not the fanciest lenses (that 70-200mm L-series lens was my pride and joy, but I never got the good 50mm low-f prime I always wanted.)

A key highlight of this time of year is having trays of beaut super ripe tomatoes lying around. Absolute wealth. We're stinkin' rich in tomatoes. It is basically an obscenity.

Instant pasta sauce — just blanch, skin, squish, and simmer. Well, OK, a little bit more going on than that, but that's the core of it, the oozing juicy red beating heart.
